Welcome

Welcome to Parenting Differently through the Power of Moments!

The chances are that if you have found me here at Parenting Differently you are exhausted, in burnout, disillusioned, despairing, worrying, considering you have failed as a parent, feeling angry at your child, wishing CAMHS or the school would just fix them and feeling guilty that this is not the life you signed up for.

Or you may be a professional supporting parents who feel like this.

If any of those feelings resonate with you or the parents you work with, and you are wondering what to do next then I want to give you hope that there is another way.

Parenting Differently through the Power of Moments is a relational and collaborative approach to parenting specifically designed for AuDHD neurodivergent children with a spikey profile of:

  • Autonomy needing
  • Demand resistant
  • Self directed
  • Active brain and body
  • Highly responsive nervous system
  • Anxious of uncertainty, but also need a bit of it!

As a NVR (Non Violent Resistance) accredited professional, a qualified primary school teacher and a parent with lived experience, I quickly realised that we don’t get long to guide and connect with our children, in-fact we only get moments!

However, it is the cumulation of all these little moments that together make the biggest change.

Parenting Differently through the Power of Moments, is an approach that helps take parents on a journey from understanding and acceptance towards increased harmony and happiness. It explores the reasons for behaviours, celebrates children’s and parent’s strengths and utilises the power of moments to create change.

“You are really gifted in putting across so much information, validating experiences, offering concrete examples and being hopeful. Truly grateful for your input.”
